Introduction
My name is Abel Gandjeto Oluwatobi , and I was born in April 2nd 1999 in Owode Afon,Imeko Afon L.G, Ogun State . I currently work as a Versatile Yoruba Newscaster and Program Presenter in the News and program department at ISOKAN 106.7FM, Mushin Lagos Nigeria where I also contribute to production work.
Early Life & Education
I grew up in Owode Afon, Ogun State Nigeria, located in the south western part of Nigeria, in to a polygamous family to Mr and Mrs Gandjeto Joseph and Albertin .
My educational journey began at Trinity Nursery and Primary School Owode Idi-ayin 2013 and continued at Community high school Owode idi-ayin Junior 2013/2016 before proceeding to Comprehensive High School Ayetoro for my Senior Secondary Education 2016-2019 , where I developed a passion for media, storytelling, singing and communication.
I later further to acquire my NCE certificate in Music/CRS at Federal College of Education Abeokuta, 2020/2022 graduating set . Over the years, I have also attended professional trainings and workshops in broadcasting, production, and presentation .
Career Journey
My career in broadcasting began in 2023, when I joined family 88.5fm Abeokuta as a siwes student between January and April 2023, It was the same week I finished my Siwes program I got employed to Wise 87.9Fm Abeokuta Ogun State as their first Yoruba news caster, producer and IT/Siwes coach between May 2023 and May 2025 ,
Through hard work and creativity, I have honed my skills as a Yoruba-language newscaster, presenting both news bulletins and special programs which earned me the Head of Yoruba News in September 2024. I also play an active role in program production, ensuring quality content that engages and informs the audience.
In May 2025 I joined ISOKAN 106.7, where I continue reading news, produce programs coupled with IT/Siwes students. I keep delivering compelling and culturally relevant media content.
Personal Life & Interests
Outside the studio, I enjoy, reading Yoruba literature, traveling, listening to old music, and training young talents. I am passionate about preserving and promoting Yoruba language and culture through my work.
I also participate in orientating younger ones on the importance of skill , talent, education and endurance, mentoring aspiring broadcasters and contributing to community development.
Conclusion
My guiding principle is “our mic is a two edged sword”, and I believe that media is a powerful tool for education, empowerment, and cultural preservation.
Looking ahead, I aim to expand my broadcasting reach, produce award-winning programs, mentor more young talents while continuing to make a positive impact through my work.
